John Dawson's Biography
John Dawson is a former Bloomberg TV Prime Time Anchor and event moderator renowned for securing high-profile exclusives and conducting incisive interviews with global leaders. After two decades in journalism, he transitioned to communications, founding Acara Strategy in 2019 to continue his conference work and leverage his frontline experience to provide senior-level counsel in reputation management, media strategy, and executive media and presentation training.
Over his broadcast career, John built a reputation for interviewing heads of state, Fortune 500 CEOs, Nobel Laureates, and sporting legends. He anchored live and hosted panels from the World Economic Forum in Davos, and influential gatherings at the EU, IMF, and OPEC. As Bloomberg’s Chief TMT correspondent (1998 – 2010), he led the coverage from the major technology events 3GSM, CeBIT, and Cable Congress. Notable interviewees include Presidents Bill Clinton, Benigno Aquino, and F.W. de Klerk, Prime Ministers Tony Blair and Silvio Berlusconi; business leaders Jack Welch, Jack Ma, Sir Richard Branson, Lloyd Blankfein, Christine Lagarde, Indra Nooyi, and Nobel Laureate Joseph Stiglitz. John’s conference work includes hosting Credit Suisse’s Asia Investment Conference in 2021, 2022, and 2023, prior to the UBS acquisition; and moderating keynotes at the Barclays Global Conference, BAFTA, AVCJ, and the American Chamber of Commerce. Since relocating to the U.S., headline interviews include opening GlobalAlts Miami 2025, hosting the fireside interview with Oaktree Capital Chairman Howard Marks.
John graduated from the University of London with a BA (Hons) in English & Classics. Originally from the U.K., John moved to Hong Kong in October 2010 and to the U.S. in 2024.
