James Cracknell's Biography

James Cracknell is a British rowing champion, double Olympic gold medalist and adventurer.

James won his first Olympic Gold in the legendary coxless four in Sydney 2000, together with Steve Redgrave, Matthew Pinsent and Tim Foster. After four years of intense training and determination, James repeated this feat in Athens, winning his second Olympic Gold medal in a nail biting final alongside Matthew Pinsent, Steve Williams and Ed Coode.

James has also built a reputation as an adventurer. Among the many challenges he has completed are the Atlantic Rowing Race (2006) and the South Pole Race (2008) with Ben Fogle. Both were documented in the popular TV programmes Through Hell and High Water, and On Thin Ice.

James’ outstanding sporting achievements, intelligence and sense of humour have made him a popular motivational speaker for blue chip corporations as well as the wider public.
