Goldie Hawn's Biography

A woman of many talents, Goldie Hawn is not only a gifted actor, but also a creative director, savvy producer, flourishing entrepreneur, and respected CEO.

Perseverant by nature, Hawn first made her behind-the-scenes debut in 1980 – the beginnings of over two decades of entrepreneurial success. She has produced critically acclaimed films such as Overboard, My Blue Heaven, and Private Benjamin, and has most recently starred in movies such as The Out-of-Towners and The First Wives Club. She was the star of Cactus Flower, for which she won the 1969 Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Today, Goldie is a principal in Cosmic Entertainment, a production entity created with Kurt Russell and children Oliver Hudson and Golden Globe winner Kate Hudson.

In 2000, Goldie founded The Hawn Foundation, which provides youth education programs intended to improve academic performance through “life-enhancing strategies for well-being”. The Hawn Foundation has supported research studies conducted by external researchers to evaluate the effectiveness of its educational program for children, called MindUP.

Believing that laughter is the best medicine and that humour is highly infectious, Hawn created the “Traveling Museum of Laughter,” an exhibit designed to entertain as well as enlighten the public to the scientific, physiological and emotional effects of laughter. Goldie’s contagious energy and enthusiasm have already begun to make a difference, as she continues to develop her Bright Light Foundation. Dedicated to creating a more peaceful and tolerant world by supporting research efforts and teaching programs targeting children, the Bright Light Foundation brings promise to the younger generation and its future. Concerned that children are not developing to full potential, one of Goldie’s missions is to change the world “one mind at a time.”
