E. Elisabet Lahti's Biography
Dr. E. Elisabet Lahti (MAPP, MSocSci) is an award-winning educator and international speaker exploring the applied psychology and somatic foundations of inner strength and resilience. She is the founder of Sisu Lab, which helps individuals and organizations cultivate resilience, compassion, and life-affirming expressions of strength under pressure.
Her PhD research at Aalto University in Finland laid the foundation for the modern study of sisu—an age-old Finnish construct describing courage, determination, and integrity in the face of adversity. Elisabet’s work bridges applied psychology, systems thinking, sociocultural anthropology, and somatic research. She also holds a Master’s in Social Psychology from the University of Tampere and a Master’s in Applied Positive Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania, and is a founding member of the Positive Psychology Association of Finland. As part of her autoethnographic research, Elisabet ran and cycled 2,400 km across New Zealand in 50 days to study, through lived experience, how humans overcome adversity and may transform challenges into growth and wisdom.
