Barjis Chohan's Biography

Barjis Chohan founded her award-winning luxury design brand in 1999, initially creating bespoke carpets inspired by art and heritage, expanding into fashion in 2011 and keeping her business thriving with the same values and ethos she started with. For more than 27 years, Barjis has worked at the intersection of design, culture, identity, and hospitality. As founder of BARJIS London, she’s collaborated with hotels, hospitality brands, and designers to create environments that go beyond aesthetics to tell stories, build emotional connections, and create memorable experiences through design. Barjis London’s bespoke carpets have been specified in projects for Marriott, IHG Hotels & Resorts, K+K Hotels, Emirates Towers, and leading hospitality brands across the UK and internationally.

Through the fashion vertical of the brand, Barjis designs unique, limited-edition pieces that are rooted in heritage and inspired by travel and art.

Born and raised in the UK, with Pakistani roots, Barjis is also a very well-travelled and seasoned business leader. Her perspective is shaped by an unusual journey through both fashion and interiors. Having studied and worked within some of the world’s most influential creative institutions, including the London College of Fashion and Central Saint Martins, and alongside Vivienne Westwood, she has seen firsthand how fashion and interior design are increasingly converging. With her brands in London and Dubai and projects and clientele across Europe, she has navigated complex, culturally diverse clientele and teams, embodying cultural fluency and speaking with authority on identity and belonging, all without dividing rooms into opposing camps.

Barjis Chohan has been a keynote speaker and panellist speaking in more than 20 keynotes, talk shows, podcasts, and panels presented, as well as over 15 years of experience encouraging and empowering audiences on stages all over the world.

Her keynote topics help organisations build cultures where employees are encouraged to create new ideas and collaborative spaces using creative techniques and have the confidence to share their identity and embrace the feeling of belonging and have the resilience to thrive through change and uncertainty.
