Andy Robinson's Biography

Andy Robinson OBE is one of the most respected coaches in World Rugby. Currently Director of Rugby at Bristol Rugby, Andy guided them to the top of the Greene King IPA Championship in his first full season at the helm. The team achieved a record number of bonus points and tries in the process, and smashed the Club record for number of successive victories.

Andy kicked off his career playing back-row for England and the British & Irish Lions, and was named “Player of the Year” in 1989. In 1997 he put aside his kit and moved into a coaching role, directing Bath until 2000. He then became deputy to Sir Clive Woodward, coaching England to win the World Cup in 2003. He was also a coach on the Lions tours to Australia in 2001 and New Zealand in 2005, and was head coach of England between 2004-2006.

Described as one of the best rugby coaches this country has ever produced, Andy moved on to coach Edinburgh Rugby and joint coach of Scotland A between 2007 and 2009. After a lucrative season, he became Scotland’s rugby head coach from 2009 to 2012. Today he specialises in talking about ”leadership” and motivational speaking, and is noted to have done a spectacular job in galvanising the Scottish and English teams to those ends.
