Valentina D’Efilippo's Biography
Valentina D’Efilippo is an award-winning data designer, author and creative director known for transforming complex information into meaningful visual stories and experiences.
For more than fifteen years, she has explored how design can give voice to data, helping people see patterns, question assumptions and connect with ideas that might otherwise feel abstract or inaccessible. Her work spans books, exhibitions, digital platforms, animations, interactive installations and live performances, created in collaboration with organisations ranging from cultural institutions and public bodies to startups and global brands.
Valentina is the co-author of the critically acclaimed The Infographic History of the World, published in eleven languages, and the creator of Britannica’s Encyclopedia Infographica, a visual encyclopedia for children featuring more than 250 infographics about the universe, wildlife, science and the human body.
Alongside her creative practice, Valentina advises and trains organisations on data storytelling, visual communication and creative thinking. She has delivered programmes for teams including the Guardian, the Financial Times, Google, Spotify, Pfizer, the NHS, the World Bank and the European Parliament, and has taught at Columbia Business School and Central Saint Martins.
A highly visual and thought-provoking speaker, Valentina has presented at international events including Adobe MAX, TEDx and DesignThinkers. Her work has been exhibited internationally and forms part of the permanent collection of the Weltmuseum Wien.
Valentina is a Design Council Expert for Design for Planet in the UK and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. She has been named one of Campaign’s 30 Future Creative Female Leaders in recognition of her influence and contribution to the creative industries.
Through her keynotes, Valentina challenges audiences to think more critically about the information they encounter, communicate complexity with greater clarity and recognise the human stories behind data and technology.
