Takehiko Nakao is a globally respected leader in international finance and economic policy, with decades of experience shaping financial systems and development strategies across Asia and beyond. As President of the Asian Development Bank (2013-2020), he led one of the world’s most influential multilateral institutions, driving infrastructure investment, economic reform and sustainable growth across 68 member countries.

Nakao’s distinguished career in Japan’s Ministry of Finance saw him serve as Vice Minister of Finance for International Affairs (2011-2013), where he was responsible for foreign exchange policy, global financial coordination, and engagement with the G7, G20 and ASEAN+3. His work placed him at the forefront of international economic diplomacy, navigating complex financial challenges and strengthening cooperation between major economies.
