Victoria Pendleton's Biography

Victoria Pendleton CBE is best known as one of Britain’s top cyclists – she is a an Olympic, European and Commonwealth champion. She won Gold in the individual sprint at the Olympic Games in Beijing, and won Gold in the keirin and silver in the individual sprint at the London 2012 Olympics.

In 2015, she became a jockey and made her competitive debut that August, finishing second in the Betfair Novice Flat Amateur Riders’ Handicap at Ripon.   She won her first race in March 2016.  She outperforming many pundits’ expectations and described the experience as “probably the greatest achievement of my life”.

In cycling, Victoria is a nine times World Champion, and in 2007 she made history when she won an unprecedented three World Championship Gold medals, establishing herself as the world’s best female track cyclist. She is also a member of the European Cycling Union Hall of Fame.

In a Q&A format, Victoria talks about the immense physical and psychological challenges faced by elite athletes, and the preparation and attitude and preparation needed to reach the top. Following her success at London 2012, and her transition to horseracing, Victoria reflects on her career, and what it took to sustain and renew her remarkable achievements.
