Tim Gregory's Biography

Dr Tim Gregory reveals how atomic science can power a cleaner, safer, exciting global future. A senior nuclear chemist at the United Kingdom’s National Nuclear Laboratory in Sellafield, he works on projects spanning clean energy, nuclear medicine and space power. His frontline experience in the UK nuclear sector gives audiences a grounded, insider view of how the atom will shape the decades ahead.

Tim is the author of Going Nuclear: How the Atom Will Save the World (2025) and Meteorite: The Stones from Outer Space That Made Our World (2020), now available in several languages. His books have been praised in outlets including the New York Times, Wall Street Journal and Nature, and he is recognised for making complex science vivid, rigorous and accessible. In keynotes, he uses these narratives to help leaders cut through fear, myth and misinformation so that evidence, not emotion, guides strategy.

With a PhD in cosmochemistry from the University of Bristol and a First Class degree in Geology with Planetary Science from the University of Manchester, Tim bridges nuclear chemistry, planetary science and deep time. He has held a postdoctoral research role at the British Geological Survey and completed an internship at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Texas. This breadth allows him to connect the birth of the Solar System, the materials that built our civilisation and the technologies that will power its future.
