Joe Marler's Biography

Joe Marler is one of the most recognisable faces in world rugby. A two-time Premiership champion, he spent his entire club career at Harlequins, winning two Premiership titles and the European Challenge Cup. He won more than 75 England caps and made 204 club appearances before announcing his retirement from professional rugby in November 2024.

Joe also has a successful podcast, “Joe Marler’s Things People Do.” Together with co-host Tom Fordyce, he meets ordinary people doing extraordinary things. Following a hugely popular run of live shows at Clapham Grand and a headline show at the Apollo, “Things People Do!” returned to the road in 2025.

In 2020 Joe published his debut book, Loose Head, Confessions of an (un)professional rugby player. The book reflects on life in elite sport with candour and insight.

He is a passionate mental health advocate and ambassador for CALM. In 2021 he teamed up with Sky Sports to launch Big Boys Don’t Cry, a sensitive and uplifting documentary which followed Joe as he travelled across the UK to learn how others manage their mental wellbeing.
