Martine Croxall 's Biography

Martine Croxall FRGS is a commanding and trusted voice in broadcast journalism. Over a career spanning more than 30 years, she has shaped how audiences understood breaking news – from the aftermath of 9/11 to the war in Ukraine. She joined BBC Radio Leicester in 1991, moved to East Midlands Today, and became a familiar face on the BBC News Channel, BBC World News, and Weekend News from 2001.

Croxall gained wide acclaim for her composure during the Paris attacks in November 2015, earning praise from former CBS bureau chief David Henderson for her “level‑headed clarity” during live coverage. In April 2021 she calmly announced the death of HRH Prince Philip across all BBC English-language channels, offering assurance at a time of national mourning.

A geography graduate of the University of Leeds and elected Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, Martine brings spatial and societal context to complex issues. She has been hosting events for the RGS since 2011, and has trained presenter cohorts at the BBC Academy and language services. Her Celebrity Mastermind win in 2022 with Nellie Bly as specialist subject underlines her intellectual curiosity and media-savvy authority.
