Stephanie Millward's Biography
Stephanie Millward MBE, PLY, DL is a Paralympic champion and mindset coach who turned personal adversity into global success. With over 700 medals and multiple world records, she brings elite sports insight to audiences seeking resilience, performance and purpose.
Diagnosed with multiple sclerosis at 17, Stephanie returned to the pool and competed in four Paralympic Games from Beijing 2008 through Tokyo 2021, winning ten medals—including two golds in Rio 2016. She transitioned from S9 to S8 classification mid‑career, maintaining elite performance levels and team leadership.
In 2024, she publicly supported a Swim England joint fact sheet on swimming with Parkinson’s and MS, championing accessibility and wellbeing through aquatic activity. In June 2025, she headlined Wiltshire College & University Centre’s student awards event, arriving with her gold medal and Paralympic torch to inspire students’ journeys.
As an ambassador for MS Society, Wiltshire & Bath Air Ambulance and other charities, Stephanie translates lived experience into practical advice on mental health, inclusion and confidence-building. Her book Paying the Price shares raw insights into adversity, leadership and tenacity.
