George Robertson is an internationally respected figure in global security and diplomacy, renowned for his tenure as Secretary General of NATO from 1999 to 2003. In this pivotal role, he guided the Alliance through a period of unprecedented change, including the aftermath of 9/11 and NATO’s first operational engagements outside Europe. As a seasoned statesman, he championed greater cooperation among NATO’s members and paved the way for significant expansion, bringing new nations into the Alliance and strengthening its collective defense.​

Prior to his leadership at NATO, George served as the UK Defence Secretary, where he helped reshape the strategic framework of Britain’s armed forces. In recognition of his outstanding service, he was awarded the U.S. Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2003, America’s highest civilian honor.
