Helen Jenkins's Biography

Helen Jenkins is a sought-after speaker and two-time Triathlon World Champion (2008 & 2011). She is one of Britain’s most celebrated triathletes, having represented Team GB at the Olympic Games (2008, 2012 & 2016) and Wales at the Commonwealth Games (2006).

Helen won her first senior world championships in Vancouver in 2008 and went on to place 21st at her Olympic debut in Beijing. She reclaimed the world title in 2011, a summer featuring a commanding victory at the London Olympic test event, and overcame injury to finish fifth at the 2012 Olympic Games. Another memorable triumph on the Gold Coast in 2016 confirmed Helen’s qualification for a third Olympic appearance in Rio, where she finished 19th.

Jenkins was also British Junior Champion in 2003 and Senior Champion in 2006 and boasts several prestigious non-International Triathlon Union event wins including the 2009 London Triathlon.

After the birth of her second child and recovery from back surgery, which stopped her from competing for three years, Helen returned to professional racing. She competed at the highest level before COVID-19 stopped her return. Helen is now working on getting more women into sport at all ages, with a particular focus through ‘her spirit’ on menopausal and perimenopausal-aged women. She also provides commentary for World Triathlon races and global broadcasts.

Helen Jenkins and her husband, who is also her coach, collaborated with GE Capital on a year-long program that applied lessons from sport to drive organizational success, innovation, and health and wellbeing, resulting in £7m in incremental revenue and new business ideas.

Helen was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2019 New Year Honours for services to triathlon.

She often speaks on success through adversity, lessons from performance sport, and women in sport.
