Farrah Storr's Biography

Farrah Storr is a tech leader, former Editor of ELLE UK & Cosmopolitan, and Author of The Discomfort Zone. As a keynote speaker, she covers themes such as leadership, empowerment and business transformation, sharing stories from her exciting career.

If there’s one thing Farrah believes in, it’s the power of discomfort to challenge mind sets, shake up behaviour and unlock potential.

Recognised as one of London’s most powerful people in media by The Evening Standard, Farrah learned this when she was made the editor-in-chief of Women’s Health magazine in 2012. Despite this being one of the most challenging moments in magazine history with multiple magazine closures and the advent of digital, Farrah managed to turn Women’s Health from a tiny, three person team largely unknown magazine brand with minimal budget, into the most successful women magazine launch of the millennium.

Off the back of this success, Farrah was tasked with leading the reinvention of Cosmopolitan magazine. Within a staggeringly short time of just six months, Farrah not only managed help Cosmo go back to being the best-selling women’s magazine in the country for the first time in 17 years, but increased circulation by an unprecedented 59 per cent.

Named as one of only 10 BAME women listed in the most powerful people in the UK (compiled by The Colour of Power, Green Park); Farrah went on to similarly transform ELLE UK and now the Lead of Writer Partnerships at Substack UK,  a tech platform.

Farrah has appeared on stages across the world, from Brazil to Barcelona talking about her career and the power discomfort to reignite the workplace. Based on her best-selling book, The Discomfort Zone, Farrah speaks about empowering workforces, challenging fragility mind-sets and how to unlock the potential of both businesses and individuals.

Farrah’s talk about ‘The Power of Discomfort’ was picked up by TED and she was a cited by The Drum as one of the best 50 female speakers in the UK.
