Charlotte Lockhart's Biography

Charlotte Lockhart is the co-founder and acting CEO of 4 Day Week Global.

Charlotte started her early career in the Middle East working in legal services and administration, before taking on the role of head of marketing and partnerships at Perpetual Guardian in 2014. Together with her partner, Andrew Barnes, the couple have now become synonymous with the 4-day work model since its successful implementation at Perpetual Guardian in 2018.

4 Day Week Global was established off this success as they saw a need for businesses to be supported as they transition towards reducing work hours. Working with large corporations and central and regional governments, Charlotte and Andrew oversee the largest ever 4-day week trials in the UK, US, Canada, South Africa, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand. With more than 250 companies and over 100,000 staff taking part in these campaigns.

Lockhart is currently the acting CEO of the not-for-profit organisation and promotes internationally the benefits of a productivity-focused and reduced-hour workplace. 4 Day Week Global also spearheads a global research programme involving academics from leading universities including Boston College, Cambridge and Oxford. Charlotte sits on the board of the Wellbeing Research Centre at Oxford University which carries out extensive research projects that investigate the effects of reducing work time both in the micro and in the macro.

Charlotte is also founder and sponsor of the World Wellbeing Movement, a coalition of global leaders from business, civil society, and academia that actively helps communities around the world put human wellbeing at the heart of their business and policy decision-making. Lockhart was recently recognised by Forbes Magazine as one of the “Future Of Work 50” leaders that are shaping our offices of tomorrow.

As one of the pioneers of the global 4-day week movement, Charlotte Lockhart is an expert in creating equitable methods that help economies implement successful 4-day work weeks and an experienced keynote speaker on the future of work.
