Alec Leach's Biography

Former Style Editor for streetwear and menswear publisher Highsnobiety, Alec Leach is a voice at the heart of the sustainable fashion conversation.

In his previous role at Highsnobiety, he was reporting on the ground from fashion weeks in Paris, New York, London and Milan, leading the magazine’s trend reports, designer interviews, collection reviews and breaking news. Now, he brings his insider knowledge of the fashion industry into the sustainability space, questioning not just how clothes are made, but also why we buy so many of them.

After leaving Highsnobiety, Alec founded Instagram platform @future__dust, which offers explainers and analysis on the intricacies of sustainability and overconsumption in fashion. His voice has drawn the eye of key industry figures as well as celebrities Hector Bellerin and John Mayer. His knowledge of the ins and outs of clothing production gives him a unique insight into sustainability, what truly makes a brand responsible (and what doesn’t), and how brands can effectively communicate sustainability without greenwashing.

Alec has been profiled in American GQ, Harper’s Bazaar and Dazed, while his opinion pieces have been published in Business Of Fashion, i-D and The Guardian.

He grew up in England but now lives in Berlin.
