Paul Wood's Biography

Dr. Paul Wood is a testament to resilience and the power of the human spirit. Following life-altering injuries sustained during operational service with a Royal Marines surveillance and reconnaissance unit, Paul’s journey has been nothing short of remarkable.

Enduring the partial loss of a limb, an internal organ, and a traumatic brain injury, Paul underwent a gruelling 20 hours of surgery, spent 28 days in a coma, followed by two months on a traumatic care unit, and the subsequent 18 months in medical care. However, rather than allowing his disabilities to define him, Paul made a conscious decision early on to rise above his circumstances, setting the stage for an extraordinary path forward.

Paul’s story is one of triumph over adversity, resilience in the face of challenges, and unwavering determination to inspire positive change. Leading by example, Paul has led teams of veterans to raise awareness for military charities by completing a range of physical challenges, was a H4H medallist and was selected to join the GB Paralympic Rowing Squad. Through his speaking engagements and professional endeavours, Paul continues to leave an indelible mark on the hearts and minds of those he encounters, proving that with the right mindset and determination, anything is possible.

In addition to his remarkable journey of recovery, Paul’s professional accomplishments are equally impressive. Paul is the CEO of Emerging Risks Global (ERG) and founder of the pioneering platforms, STAY&BLE, the crisis resilience app, Pre‑Check AI, an intelligent security pre‑screening solution and Risk Navigator. A globally recognised converged security expert, Paul’s career spans the design and deployment of integrated security architectures that protect multinational corporations, critical national infrastructure and government operations.

An ambassador for the security profession, Paul developed the Crisis Resilience Professional Pathway, founded the CRP Guild and continues to be a leading advocate for making security a recognised profession. His work integrates a psychologically informed, behavioural‑science approach to managing the human factor, ensuring that security is not just operationally sound, but culturally embedded.

An accomplished author and global speaker, Paul has authored influential research on trust, relational security and human‑factor dynamics, presenting to audiences across continents and encouraging everyone to ‘care’ about security. As well as regularly speaking to industry groups and at academic institutes, Paul oversaw the review of the MSc in International Security and Risk Management, delivered by the Linx International Group in partnership with the University of West London.

Leading high‑performing global security teams across sectors and geographies, Pauls’ career bridges strategic leadership and operational delivery. His credentials reflect both breadth and depth.
