Kierna Mayo is the Senior Vice President of Content and Brands at Interactive One, Inc.. Ms. Mayo served as an Editor in Chief and Vice President of Digital Content of Ebony magazine. She served as Editorial Director of Digital for EBONY Magazine at Johnson Publishing Company since August 22, 2011. Ms. Mayo joined Johnson Publishing from Bankable Enterprises, where she served as Editorial Director of Tyra.com, Tyra Banks‘ young women’s magazine.

Mayo began her career in the ’90s, covering race, women and culture issues, with her work appearing in publications including Essence, Marie Claire, Glamour, Seventeen, Vibe, and Upton, “And It Don’t Stop: The Best American Hip-Hop Journalism of the Last 25 Years,” and an academic text, “The Invention of Race: Black Culture and the Politics of Representation.”  She is also the co-founder and founding Editor-in-Chief of Honey magazine. Ms. Mayo is a graduate of Hampton University where she received her BA in Mass Media Arts.
