Jeremy Myerson's Biography

Jeremy Myerson is a writer, researcher and speaker on the future of work and the workplace.  He works internationally from his base in London.

He is the co-founder and director of WORKTECH Academy, a global knowledge network of companies and academics exploring how we’ll work tomorrow. His expertise is in analysing how a combination of design, technology, behaviour, place and culture will shape the new world of work.

Jeremy is also a senior academic figure – he holds the Helen Hamlyn Chair of Design at the Royal College of Art and is a Visiting Professorial Fellow at the Oxford Institute of Population Ageing, Oxford University. His research focuses on creating a more inclusive and people-centred approach to the workplace to improve engagement and wellbeing. He is also academic chairman of the Healthy City Design International Congress.

Jeremy began his career as an arts journalist and editor, and worked titles such as  The Stage, Design and Creative Review before becoming founder-editor of Design Week magazine in 1986. In 1999, he co-founded the Helen Hamlyn Centre for Design, the Royal College of Art’s largest research centre, and went on to lead large studies in the workplace field.

The author of more than 20 books, his future-of-work titles include “The 21st Century Office” (2003), “New Demographics, New Workspace” (2010),“Time & Motion: Redefining Working Life” (2014) and “Life of Work” (2015).    In July 2021, his new book “Designing a World for Everyone: 30 Years of Inclusive Design” was published by Lund Humphries. This book explores how designing for diversity has the potential to remodel our workplaces, homes and communications. In 2022, his book (co-authored with Philip Ross) is about the emerging contours of the post-pandemic workplace, “Unworking: The Reinvention of the Modern Office” was published by Reaktion Books/University of Chicago.

Jeremy has spoken at leading conferences and corporate events around the world and sits on the advisory boards of design institutes in the UK, The Netherlands, South Korea and Switzerland. His awards include an Honorary Doctorate from the Royal College of Art, an Inclusive Design Champion award from the Include Conference’s scientific committee, and being named by Wired magazine as one of Britain’s 100 most influential people in digital technology.
