Heather McGregor's Biography

Heather McGregor is a British entrepreneur, columnist and entertainer. She is most famous for writing the Mrs Moneypenny column for the Financial Times, entertaining readers with her views on everything from Wellington boots to waxing. She also presents the Channel 4 series SuperScrimpers: Waste Not Want Not. Her Mrs Moneypenny show has run at the Edinburgh Fringe, off-Broadway and the Hay Festival.

Heather is a former stockbroker and investment banker. At the beginning of her career she worked in financial PR and investor relations before joining ABN Amro as a sellside analyst. She then spent eight years with the bank, working in London, Hong Kong, Singapore and Tokyo. She began writing for the Financial Times in 1999 while still based in Tokyo. Subsequently, she returned to the UK and bought Taylor Bennett, an executive search firm.

She holds an MBA from London Business School, a PhD from the University of Hong Kong and lectures as a visiting professor at the Cass Business School and the London Business School. Her latest book is “Careers Advice For Ambitious Women” (2012). She is a founding member of the 30% Club, working to raise the representation of women at senior levels within the UK’s publicly quoted companies.
