Holly Walsh's Biography

Holly Walsh is a comedy performer and writer, known best for her work on both TV and radio. She has won herself plaudits a-plenty. As a 2006 finalist in the annual stand-up comedy competitions, Hackney Empire New Act of the Year, and So You Think You’re Funny?, Holly went on to win the Chortle Awards’ Best Newcomer award in 2008.

A runner-up in the 2006 Amused Moose Laugh Off at the Edinburgh Fringe, she appeared at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2007 and again in 2008. Holly then co-hosted the 2009 Amused Moose Laugh Off with Jack Whitehall. Holly also performed live at the Leicester Comedy Festival Tour in 2009. Her first hour long solo show, Hollycopter, was nominated for an Edinburgh Comedy Best Newcomer Award at the 2011 Edinburgh festival. Holly’s most recent television appearances have included featuring as a guest panellist on the BBC’s 24 Hour Panel Show for Comic Relief and Sky1’s Wall of Fame. In 2011 she was also a guest on Richard Bacon’s Beer and Pizza Club and performed on the Edinburgh Comedy Fest Live on BBC3.

Holly has appeared as a guest panellist BBC 1’s on BBC 1’s Would I Lie To You (2010), and on Channel 4’s You Have Been Watching (2009-10). She has also featured on Dave’s One Night Stand, 8 Out of 10 Cats, and made an intrepid appearance on BBC 2’s Mock The Week (2009-10), showcasing her ability to whip up razor-sharp one-liners. She has also appeared as a guest on Celebrity Big Brother’s Big Mouth, and BBC Northern Ireland’s The Blame Game. Holly’s new sitcom, Life Story, written along with Sharon Horgan, has been commissioned by BBC3 and is due to air in early-mid 2012.
