Wladimir Klitschko is a former heavyweight boxing champion and prominent public speaker. When Russia began the invasion of Ukraine in early 2022, Wladimir and his brother (heavyweight boxing champion turned politician) Vitali enlisted in the Kyiv Territorial Defense Brigade, a unit of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ military reserve. They pledged to take up arms to protect their country and have been at the forefront of relief efforts, speaking out against the invasion and supporting civilians on the ground. Wladimir is also a guest lecturer at Switzerland’s University of St. Gallen, where he’s been teaching master’s students since 2015.

Wladimir is perhaps best known as a two-time World Heavyweight Boxing Champion who won gold at the 1996 Summer Olympics. With 4,382 days as the all-time heavyweight champion and 23 losses in title fights, Wladimir holds the record for the most opponents defeated and the longest cumulative heavyweight championship reign. Wladimir and Vitali are recognised as some of the greatest boxers of their generation. They hold the Guinness World Record for most world heavyweight title fights between a pair of siblings and dominated heavyweight boxing between 2004 and 2015, in what is commonly known as the Klitschko Era.

As a spokesperson for facing challenges and overcoming your self-doubt, Wladimir has published two books, F.A.C.E The Challenge (2020) and Challenge Managemt (2019). Wladimir is accustomed to being in the spotlight and on television; his fights consistently attracted millions of people and today have a cumulative audience of more than 1.5 billion. Alongside his brother Vitali, Wladimir is also the star of the 2011 documentary Klitschko, which documents their upbringing from modest origins to becoming world champion boxers.

Numerous honours have been awarded to Wladimir for his contributions to Ukrainian economic, scientific, and cultural advancement and his sports services. He was inducted into the 2021 International Boxing Hall of Fame and awarded the Order of the Liberty in 2017, the highest honour a person of any nationality can receive from Ukraine.
