Waheed Arian's Biography
Dr. Waheed Arian, an accomplished and influential figure in the healthcare and medicine sector, is known for his trailblazing work in telemedicine and his inspiring life story. Often called upon as a speaker, he regularly discusses the power of technology in global healthcare and shares his experiences in overcoming adversities.
After graduating as a medical doctor in 2010, Dr. Arian completed his Foundation Training from 2010 to 2012 and Core Surgery Training (Trust Grade) from 2012 to 2014. He undertook clinical radiology registrar training from 2014 to 2019 while also fulfilling his senior emergency medicine doctor duties. He continues to work as an emergency medicine doctor within the UK’s National Health Service (NHS).
Dr. Arian has led and contributed to numerous clinical audits and research projects during his postgraduate medical training, with his findings presented at medical conferences and published in scientific journals.
In 2015, Dr. Arian founded Arian Teleheal. This ground-breaking charity leverages the expertise of volunteer doctors in the UK and US to provide consultation to clinicians in war-stricken and low-resource countries.
Dr. Arian’s life and work have been extensively covered in the media. His story was showcased in a 30-minute BBC World documentary by John Simpson titled “Waheed’s Wars: Saving Lives Across the World,” first aired in August 2017. This was followed by a radio documentary for the BBC World Service, “Afghanistan Calling.” He made headlines for performing the world’s first augmented reality international telemedicine consultation using Microsoft HoloLens.

Dr. Arian holds degrees in Medicine from the University of Cambridge and Medical Sciences with Management from Imperial College London. He obtained his Certificate of Completion of Training in Clinical Radiology from the Royal College of Radiologists.
