Vladyslav Vyazovskiy's Biography

Vladyslav Vyazovskiy is a neuroscientist, professor and expert speaker, known for his pioneering research in sleep science, neuroscience and neurobiology of hibernation. His work focuses on understanding the mechanisms of sleep and its effects on brain function, making him a vital voice in both academic and practical discussions about human health and cognitive performance.

He holds a PhD from the University of Zurich in Switzerland from 1999-04 where he focused on the neurophysiological mechanisms of brain state regulation. This foundational work set the stage for his future research and academic contributions.

Vyazovskiy is currently a professor at the University of Oxford, where he leads a research group dedicated to discovering the mysteries of sleep at both cellular and network levels. He is also Vice President of the European Sleep Research Society. He was a lecturer in Sleep and Chronobiology at the Department of Biochemistry and Physiology at the University of Surrey in UK from 2012-13. In 2013 he joined the Department of Anatomy, Physiology and Genetics (DPAG) at the University of Oxford. Vladyslav was a postdoctoral researcher and then an Associate Scientist at the Department of Psychiatry, University of Wisconsin-Madison in the USA between 2005-2012.

He has published extensively in prestigious journals, contributing groundbreaking studies that explore how sleep regulates synaptic strength and the phenomenon of “local sleep”, and how disruption of sleep patterns can affect overall health and cognitive functions. His research has implications for developing interventions in sleep disorders, improving mental health, and enhancing life quality through better sleep hygiene.

His audience is captivated with detailed explanations of complex neurological processes. He is frequently invited to speak at major scientific conferences, healthcare symposiums, and public events, where he discusses the latest research findings and their practical applications to daily life and medical practice. As a speaker, he continues to influence and drive forward the field of neuroscience through his research, teaching, and public engagement activities.

Vladyslav Vyazovskiy is a leading neuroscientist, professor and speaker known for his extensive research into sleep science and its impacts on brain function. His work offers profound insights into improving mental and physical health through better sleep practices.
