Tim Spector's Biography
Tim Spector is a genetic epidemiologist, author, and speaker. He is a Professor of Genetic Epidemiology and Director of the TwinsUK Registry at King’s College London. He specializes in twin studies, genetics, epigenetics, microbiome, and diet.
Tim has authored several books, including “The Diet Myth” and “Spoon Fed,” which have been positively reviewed in science journals. He has argued against low-fat and fad diets, recommending a varied high-fibre Mediterranean-style diet with plenty of nuts and vegetables.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Tim made use of twins already taking part in a genetic study to begin an investigation of COVID-19 symptoms. He became the public face of the COVID Symptom Study and released periodic summaries via YouTube.
As a speaker, Tim has worked with a diverse range of clients and events, including TEDx, the World Economic Forum, and the BBC. His expertise in genomics and gut health has made him a sought-after speaker and consultant for organizations around the world.
