Oliver Bullough's Biography
Oliver Bullough is an author and journalist from Wales, who specializes in writing about financial crime, often when it has links to the former Soviet Union. His journalism appears in the Guardian, the Sunday Times, the New York Times, on BBC radio and elsewhere. He is a contributing editor to Coda, an independent news site that does in depth reporting on a few key global stories.
His most recent book is ‘Butler to the World: How Britain became the servant of tycoons, tax dodgers, kleptocrats and criminals‘, published in 2022. This work explored Britain’s role as a centre for the enabling of financial crime, and was longlisted for the FT’s Business Book of the Year. It was met with critical acclaim and was subsequently listed as a “best book of the year” by The Economist, the Times, Sunday Times, New Yorker and the Financial Times.
His previous best selling book is ‘Moneyland, why thieves and crooks now rule the world and how to take it back‘, which explored global kleptocracy and was shortlisted for the Orwell Prize.
He appears regularly at literary festivals, conferences, and as a pundit on television. He lives near Hay-on-Wye, and spends his free time cooking, running and watching rugby.
