Karin Nilsdotter's Biography
Karin Nilsdotter is an astropreneur and international advisor to the tech and space industry. WIRED identified Karin as a global game changer, and she has been awarded Tech Woman of the Year in Sweden and recognized on the inaugural Singapore 100 Women in Tech List.
The CEO and partner of Spaceport Sweden, a pioneering initiative to establish Europe’s gateway for space travel, is passionate about advancing humanity in space and using technology to empower communities on Earth. She co-founded “Hack Space for the Planet” together with the Embassy of Sweden in Singapore and SGInnovate, applying space tech and data to solve the UN SDGs.
A thought leader and advocate, Karin has become an influential voice for the commercial space industry. She has led the development of Destination: Space, a national strategy for human spaceflight and space tourism, a regulatory framework for suborbital human spaceflight, a space adventure portfolio and founded TEDxKiruna.
Karin serves on the boards of the AI and space company Unibap, GEN Space and as advisor to the Warp Institute. She was the first international board member of the Commercial Spaceflight Federation in the USA and is a select executive on the STAR Program, an advisory function to the senior leadership at Airbus Group.
Invited as an expert and mentor by UNNOSA, Karin has helped develop the global Space4Women program and has founded Women in Space Sweden. In 2019, Karin was voted to feature as a role model on the Swedish National Women’s Football Team Shirt for the World Cup.
Karin is a keynote and TEDx speaker, an alumnus of Singularity University and has an Executive MBA from Henley Business School where she was recognized for her pioneering research on positive psychology and employee engagement applied to a knowledge organization. She is preparing for her trip to space, as a ticket holder with Virgin Galactic.
