James Acaster's Biography

James Acaster is a presenter, writer and one of the UK’s most exciting and original comedians. His laid-back style and clever, quirky material has won him a legion of fans both in the UK and abroad. He talks about everything from creativity to the mundane and is sought-after as a public speaker.

As a celebrated host, James is a co-presenter on the UKTV panel show Hypothetical, a presenter on BBC three comedy series Sounds Random and a host and creator of the Off Menu podcast. He’s also lent his presenting talents to various shows such as The Last Leg of the Year, The Big Fat Quiz of the Year, and the documentary series Sweet Home Kettering.

James has also showcased his acting skills, featuring and starring in numerous film and television shows. He appeared in the 2021 Amazon Prime original movie Cinderella and is due to appear in 2023’s Seize Them!

As one of Britain’s most engaging and sought-after stand-up comedians, James has been featured on flagship programs like Live at the Apollo and hosted several comedy tours like Amongst Other Things, Lawnmower, Recognise, Represent, Reset and the Netflix special Repertoire. His most recent special, Cold Lasagne Hate Myself 1999, has propelled him to new heights, earning a Critics Choice Award for Best Comedy Special nomination.

James is not only an award-winning comedian but an accomplished author as well. He’s the Sunday Times bestselling author of James Acaster’s Classic Scrapes (2017), a collection of mishaps that have landed him in less-than-ideal circumstances and Perfect Sound Whatever (2019), a review of albums released in 2016. His third book James Acaster’s Guide to Quitting Social Media: Vol. 1, was published in 2022.

In addition to his critics Choice Award nomination, Jame holds several Chortle awards for Best Show, Breakthrough Act and Comedians’ Comedian.

James is one of the world’s most sought-after speakers and comedians, with an engaging onstage presence.
