His work focuses on raising awareness about economic inequality and proposing practical solutions to create a fairer, more inclusive economy.

Stevenson’s career began as an intern at Citibank in 2008. He quickly distinguished himself, accurately predicting the financial crisis of 2007-2008 and the Greek Government Debt Crisis in 2011. These predictions earned him the title of ‘Citibank’s most profitable trader.’ By 2014, Stevenson retired from trading to pursue a master’s degree in economics. His academic pursuits further fueled his dedication to understanding and mitigating economic inequality.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, Stevenson demonstrated his adeptness at economic forecasting by predicting a rise in house prices and the cost of shopping, foreseeing an ensuing increase in inequality. His advocacy for wealth taxation gained prominence as he joined groups like Patriotic Millionaires and Millionaires for Humanity, pushing for policies aimed at reducing economic disparities.

He has been featured in Channel 4’s documentary “Cryptocurrency: Has the Bubble Burst?”, appeared on BBC’s Politics Live, and was the subject of Steffan Roe Griffith’s short film “Gary Stevenson – Life Out Of Balance.” In 2024, Stevenson expanded his influence by authoring a memoir, “The Trading Game” – this book is longlisted for the Financial Times best business book of 2024.
