Dr. Sian Williams's Biography
Dr. Sian Williams is an acclaimed British journalist and broadcaster with over 35 years of experience including her role as lead anchor for Channel 5 News.
During her decade-long tenure anchoring BBC Breakfast, Sian played a pivotal role in doubling audience numbers. She has presented a range of consumer and current affairs programs, including Secrets of Your Supermarket Food on Channel 5, ITV’s Health Series, Save Money: Good Health, and Channel 4’s My Family Secrets Revealed.
In November 2021, she launched “Mind Matters with Dr. Sian”, a weekly segment on mental health that she continues to present.
Sian is a seasoned Trauma Assessor (TRIM) meaning she supports journalists returning from traumatic news events. She holds an MSc in Psychology, specializing in Post Traumatic Stress, and a Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology, earning the prestigious title of Doctor of Psychology (DPsych). During the pandemic, she worked in the NHS, assisting acute cancer patients and ICU staff.
As Radio 4’s Saturday Live co-presenter, Sian presented “The Science of Resilience” and “How to Have a Better Brain” series. She also anchored Radio 4’s coverage of Baroness Thatcher’s funeral. Her wider portfolio includes hosting BBC One’s Sunday Morning Live and documentaries such as Crimewatch and National Treasures Live.
Sian was listed in the Radio Times Top 10 broadcast interviewers of all time. She received the Television and Radio Industries Club Best Newsreader/Reporter award twice consecutively. Sian serves as the Chair of the Young Women’s Trust Inquiry into the challenges faced by young women.
In June 2016, Sian released her first book, “Rise: Surviving and Thriving after Trauma” showcasing her commitment to mental health and resilience.
