Often referred to as the ‘crossroads of the world’, the Middle East and North Africa region covers more than 20 countries. As with other large regions, one cannot generalise too much about current issues and history – it is too complex. As we witness war in Gaza, tensions are escalating in Yemen, Lebanon and Iran. Relations with Saudi Arabia are delicate, yet ties remain strong. The UAE continues to grow and is regarded as a powerhouse for tourism, space travel and innovation. Logistics and supply chain flow is impacted by issues in the Red Sea and the Suez canal. It reminds us, yet again, we are all interconnected and so when there are challenges in one part of the world, they can have global consequences.
