Richard Hill's Biography

Richard Hill played 288 times for the Saracens between 1993 and 2008 and 71 times for England, making him one of the modern greats of the English game. He was also selected for five tours with the British and Irish Lions between 1997 and 2005.

Often portrayed as the ‘silent assassin’ at both club and international level, his effective and abrasive style of forward play made him legendary in rugby union circles. He was part of the famous England loose trio of Back, Dallaglio and Hill that took England to Rugby World Cup glory in 2003 under Clive Woodward. Indeed, he was the only member of Woodward’s England side never to have been dropped by him. He retired from the game in 2008 after a serious knee injury.

In his post playing career he has worked with Saracens on business development and as academy coach and mentor,  helping the team develop their next generation of players. He also acted as a host and entertainer at Saracens home matches and in the club’s community outreach work.
