Raina Kumra's Biography

Whether as a Board member, investor or executive, RAINA KUMRA is sought after for unique insights and collaboration on making vision actionable and mitigating risks to the viability of technology-driven organizations. She excels in the world of digital transformation and AI ethics, strategic innovation and entrepreneurial ventures. Built on an early career in advertising and brand development paired with an instinct for consumer needs, Raina is a powerful force in guiding decisions for facing the challenges of the future and helping steer organizations to ethical alignment.

As a General Partner of The Fund LA, she leads pre-seed investments in healthcare and deep tech. She also leads Juggernaut, a strategic consultancy focusing on organizational innovation as its CEO with clients including Disney, Nike and Burberry. Previously she was an investor at Omidyar Network. She was the Co-Founder & Chief Marketing/Strategy Officer for Mavin, Inc., a mobile startup making the Internet more affordable in emerging markets.

She has worked in international media as the Director of Innovation at the Broadcasting Board of Governors and as Senior New Media Advisor U.S. Department of State. Earlier, Raina held roles at well-known advertising agencies Wieden+Kennedy, R/GA and BBH. At Wieden+Kennedy as Director of Digital Strategies, she led the conversion of a global firm to a full-service digital agency. She began her career in the wireless industry acquiring expertise in FCC spectrum auctions and general operations and was a documentary filmmaker and video editor early in her career.

Raina received an M.Des.S in Design Studies for Digital Applications in Urban Planning & Architecture from Harvard University, an MA in Interactive Telecommunications from New York University and a BA Magna Cum Laude in Film Production from Boston University. She serves on Boards and in an advisory capacity for several organizations including Techstars, the Annenberg Innovation Lab at USC, Mavin Inc., and Global Integrity. She is a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations. In 2016 she was recognized by Fast Company as one of the “Most Creative People in Business”. Raina is a frequent speaker at industry conferences. Her writing has been published in Quartz, Slate, Forbes, The Columbia Journalism Review and Wired. Her design research is housed in the permanent collection of the MoMA.
