Ng On-yee's Biography

Ng On-yee is a three-time World Women’s Snooker Champion and one of the most successful sporting figures to ever emerge from Hong Kong. With over two decades of dedication to the game, Ng has cemented her legacy as one of the most accomplished female snooker players in history. Since her debut in 2011, she has become one of only five players to have won the World Women’s Snooker Championship three or more times, securing her place among snooker’s elite.

On-yee’s remarkable career includes over 20 world-ranking titles, making her one of only six players to achieve this milestone. Her victories include four UK Championship titles, two Masters crowns, and a historic run of three world championship titles. She gained international recognition in 2015 when she stunned 10-time defending champion Reanne Evans in the semi-finals of the World Women’s Championship, before becoming the first Asian woman to capture the title with a decisive 6-2 victory over Emma Bonney.

Her achievements continued with a second world title in 2017, after a dramatic 6-5 win over India’s Vidya Pillai in Singapore. Ng’s stellar 2018 season saw her become the first Asian woman to hold the World No. 1 ranking in women’s snooker. She went on to defend her world title in Malta, becoming the first player to win the championship without losing a single frame.

On-yee has also made her mark through incredible individual achievements. She posted her highest-ever break of 139 during the semi-finals of the Australian Women’s Open, a record surpassed only by Reanne Evans. At the 2023 US Open, she became the first female player to compile a century break on American soil with a stunning run of 121.
