Marcelo Paiva's Biography

Marcelo Paiva is a Brazilian investor and sustainability leader in the global lithium-ion battery supply chain. He is Co‑Founder and Managing Partner of A10 Invest—established in 2013—and Co‑Chair of Sigma Lithium (Nasdaq: SGML), the world’s fifth‑largest lithium producer and A10’s flagship investment.

Under Paiva’s stewardship, Sigma Lithium became the first large‑scale mining operation worldwide to reach zero‑carbon status while generating exceptional financial returns and transformative social impact in its Brazilian host communities. A10 Invest has since extended its reach with a stake in a pioneering cathode producer in California, earning global recognition for marrying high performance with groundbreaking environmental and social benchmarks.

Earlier in his career, Paiva advised Fortune 500 clients in investment‑banking roles at UBS in New York and Credit Suisse in London, before managing international portfolios and currency strategies across three continents. He holds a BA in Economics from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, an MBA from INSEAD, and the CFA charter—credentials that underpin his disciplined approach to risk, governance and sustainable value creation.

A frequent guest speaker at INSEAD (France & Singapore) and the Wharton School (Philadelphia), Paiva lectures on entrepreneurship, sustainability and supply‑chain innovation, and is collaborating with faculty at both schools to develop case studies for MBA and Executive MBA programmes. Having lived in Brazil, the United States and Europe, he now divides his time between the UAE and Brazil, where he recently opened an A10 affiliate.

On stage, Paiva translates real‑world wins and setbacks into actionable frameworks that help boards, policymakers and investors capture opportunity in the energy transition—quickly, credibly and at scale.
