Lee Spencer's Biography

Lee Spencer is the world’s only physically disabled person to hold the World Record in an endurance event.

Lee Spencer has “genuinely lived a life of courage and humour most of us couldn’t dream of.” (Dr Pippa Grange – Sports Psychologist, Author and former head of People and Team Development at the Football Association.)

From growing up in a household dominated by alcoholism and domestic violence and being told on two different occasions that he ‘wasn’t what they were looking for,’ Lee Spencer eventually joined the Royal Marines and successfully passed Commando training. He had a successful career where he led Marines in war and operated undercover in Afghanistan as a volunteer for Special Duties.

In January 2014 whilst helping at the scene of a motorway accident, Lee lost his right leg below the knee. He used his military training to save his own life and was awarded the High Chief Constables award for his selfless actions on the night. After losing a leg and becoming disabled, he smashed the able-bodied record for rowing solo and unsupported across the Atlantic Ocean. Lee Spencer has continuously defied the odds and holds 4 Guinness World Records.

A natural and engaging speaker, Lee’s incredible personal story of courage, determination leadership and overcoming adversity has captivated a range of audiences: From business conferences to after dinner gala events, from festivals to elite and national sports teams including the England senior men’s team in their pre 2018 World Cup training camp.

“You’ve inspired thousands if not millions of people.” HRH The Duke of Sussex Prince Harry
