Jill Scott MBE's Biography

Jill Scott MBE is an English former professional football player and part of the winning team in the 2022 UEFA Women’s Euro. Jill first played for the England squad in 2006. She also made the squad for the 2007 World Cup where she came on as a substitute in England’s match against Japan. Jill has continued to impress as demonstrated in her team’s victory at the EUFA Women’s Euro in 2022.

The FIFA technical report into the 2011 Women’s World Cup described Scott as one of England’s four outstanding players; “an energetic, ball-winning midfielder who organises the team well, works hard at both ends of the pitch and can change her team’s angle of attack”.

She is also widely known for her TV work and for winning “I’m a Celebrity, get me out of here’ in 2023.

Her passion for football began at school before later going on to study Sport and Exercise Science at Gateshead College and playing football for the college team. Following this, she went to Loughborough University where she started playing for Sunderland Women. At the age of 18, Jill won the Women’s Player of the Month award and shortly afterwards joined Everton Ladies in 2006. Only a year later, Jill was awarded the FA Tesco Players’ of the Year award.

After leaving Everton, Jill joined Manchester City and played a part in the team going on to win the Continental Cup Trophy in 2014. She was named as one of the first 17 female players to be given central contracts by The Football Association.

She was appointed an MBE in the 2020 New Year Honours for services to women’s football.
