Gordon Brown's Biography

Gordon Brown MP served as British Prime Minister from 2007 to 2010.

From 1997 to 2007, Gordon Brown was Chancellor of the Exchequer in the Labour government headed by Tony Blair. His major policy initiatives included giving the Bank of England operational independence in monetary policy, changing the inflation measure from the Retail Price Index to the Consumer Price Index, and transferring bank regulation to the Financial Services Authority.
