Geraint Thomas's Biography
Geraint Thomas is the 2018 Tour De France winner and a double Olympic champion.
He is the first Welshman to win the Tour de France and the first Briton to conquer its iconic Alpe d’Huez stage. On the track Geraint has won two Olympic gold medals and three World Championships. He won BBC Sports Personality of the Year in 2018.
Alongside his incredible sporting career, Geraint has also published three books, filmed a BBC documentary and now hosts two podcasts (Watts Occurring and The Geraint Thomas Cycling Club), each with their own Zwift ride teams.
In 2021 Geraint founded The Geraint Thomas Trust whose aim is to help young children get into cycling.
In the fight against COVID-19 with nurses, doctors and hospital specialists sacrificing their personal safety day in and day out, Geraint took it upon himself to make a difference with a cycling twist. He mirrored a standard shift of a typical National Health Service (NHS) health worker; riding 12 hours a day, for three days. Geraint streamed his Zwift riders, with all contributions going directly to the NHS. Over £375,000 was raised across the 36 hours to celebrate the work of the front-line workers.
Following Geraint’s recent third place in the 2022 Tour de France, Geraint becomes just the ninth person in the sport’s history to finish on all three steps of the race’s podium.
