Dwayne Fields's Biography
Dwayne Fields is a pioneering explorer and adventurer, widely recognized for his remarkable journey from inner-city London to the polar extremes. Born in Jamaica and raised in the UK from the age of six, he overcame the trauma of knife and gun crime by channeling his energies into outdoor exploration. In 2010, he walked over 400 miles to reach the Magnetic North Pole, becoming the first black Briton to achieve this feat, and was later invited to Buckingham Palace in the presence of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Armed with a combined honours degree in Psychology, International Development, and Business Management, Dwayne followed his passion for discovery after working as an electrical mechanical engineer on the London Underground.
Succeeding Bear Grylls as the UK Chief Scout in 2024, Dwayne has appeared in several broadcast projects that highlight his dedication to adventure and environmental conservation. He and Ben Fogle retraced the epic journeys of Scott, Shackleton, and Amundsen in Endurance: Race to the Pole, before launching Endurance: Race to the Nile, documenting Dr. Livingstone’s quest to find the source of the River Nile. He also guided Will Smith in the Disney+ series Welcome to Earth, and pushed himself to the limit in Seven Toughest Days for National Geographic. Co-founder of the #WeTwo Foundation, he led expeditions with underprivileged youth to Antarctica in 2022 and the Galapagos in 2024, promoting inclusivity, sustainability, and the spirit of exploration.
A Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and Ambassador for the Scout Association, National Trust, and Woodland Trust, Dwayne continues to plan bold expeditions. His dynamic storytelling, resilience, and commitment to inspiring others make him a force on the global speaking circuit.
