Benedikt Franke, a distinguished leader in global security and international relations currently serving as the Vice-Chairman and CEO of the Munich Security Conference (MSC). Renowned for his strategic insights and commitment to fostering global security dialogue, Benedikt has significantly contributed to shaping international policy and cooperation. His expertise in security policy and international diplomacy has made him a sought-after speaker and advisor in global security matters.

He holds a PhD from the University of Cambridge and a master’s degree in International & Global Studies from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies. These academic achievements have provided him with a strong foundation in understanding global political dynamics and security issues.

Franke’s career began in the field of international diplomacy and security policy. His work with the Munich Security Conference,  also known as the MSC has been pivotal. As the CEO of the MSC Foundation – one of the world’s leading platforms for international security dialogue, Benedikt has played a crucial role in organizing and leading discussions on critical global security issues, bringing together world leaders, policymakers, and experts to foster dialogue and cooperation. Under his leadership, the MSC has expanded its reach and influence, addressing contemporary security challenges such as cyber threats, terrorism, and geopolitical conflicts. Before joining the MSC, Franke served as Senior Advisor for Strategic Affairs at the CSU, before that he was the Special Assistant for former Secretary-General of the United Nations and Nobel Laureate Kofi Annan.

He regularly publishes articles on these topics at the MSC, including co-authoring the well-received book “The Art of Diplomacy: 75 Views Behind the Scenes of World Politics” (2022).
