Arunima Sinha's Biography

In 2011, Arunima Sinha, a former national level volleyball player was thrown off a moving train while trying to resist thieves. In order to save her life, doctors had choice but to amputate below the knee and it was while she was still recovering that Arunima first resolved to climb Mt. Everest.

Just two years later, she achieved her goal and made history as the first female amputee to successfully climb Mt. Everest when she finally reached the summit on 21st May, 2013 after a grueling 52 day journey. Since then, she has been on a mission to conquer all seven of the highest summits in the world and has already scaled Mt Kilimanjaro, Mt Elbrus and Mt Kosciuszko.

Arunima is also deeply dedicated towards social welfare and is working on opening a free sports academy for poor and differently-abled people. She is focused on helping physically challenged people to achieve their goal, so that they can also become self-dependent.
