Adrian Hayes's Biography

Adrian Hayes is a British record-breaking adventurer, author, speaker, consultant and coach, social commentator, documentary presenter and campaigner.

An Arabic and Nepalese speaking former British Army Gurkha Officer, who also spent two years in the Special Forces, Adrian’s adventuring achievements include trekking to both Poles, summiting Everest and K2, crossing the length of Greenland and the Arabian Desert and setting two Guinness World Records for Polar expeditions.

Adrian penned a moving and intensely personal account of his arduous summit of the world’s most unpredictable and perilous mountain in One Man’s Climb: A Journey of Trauma, Tragedy and Triumph on K2 (Pen and Sword History, 2019). His first book, Footsteps of Thesiger published in 2013, documents Adrian’s attempt to retrace Thesiger’s footsteps with his own crossing of the desert by camel and foot over forty-four days.

A former Airbus Middle East sales director, in his primary work Adrian has been a global keynote speaker and professional leadership, team and executive consultant. He has over 15 years of experience coaching and mentoring, and has delivered inspiring speeches, seminars, programmes and workshops worldwide.

In his social commentator and campaign roles, Adrian Hayes is a regular panellist and interviewee on British TV. He is a passionate ambassador of economic, social and environmental sustainability, and a patron of several international charities including Population Matters and CHASE Africa. Adrian is involved in many different causes, speaking, writing and commentating regularly on contemporary world issues such as mental fitness and the education gap. As a former qualified Paramedic, Adrian additionally set up a project providing medical treatment in the remote areas of the Himalayas.

To date, Adrian Hayes has been featured in three documentaries: The Greenland Quest (2011) for the National Geographic Channel, Footsteps of Thesiger (2013) and In Inner Mongolia (2017) for the Discovery Channel. He is now an establishing television and documentary presenter and in the process of writing his next book on human development and society.
