Jayne Storey's Speaking Topics

  • Beyond the Mental Game

The necessity of inner quietude for the delivery of fluid motion. Attaining the flow-state through a quiet mind; the formula for the zone/flow and its connection to the meditative state. Why apps aren’t enough for serious athletes. Common mistakes made when using breathing ‘techniques’ from a psychological perspective without understanding the role of the body’s physical centre. Benefits and take home value: Audience members will have a daily Performance Practice of formal seated meditation to dispel anxiety, calm nerves and remove all forms of mental self-interference. They will be shown how to build and develop the practice, apply it to sports practice / movement rehearsal and implement in competitive situations.

  • Stillness is the Master of Motion

Attaining a state of relaxed readiness with the body so it can respond naturally to the intention. How thinking about moving disrupts the signal from the motor system throwing off balance, rhythm and timing. Preparing your body with the twin qualities of structure and relaxation. Bringing the mind and body, idea and action together. Benefits and take home value: Audience members will have a key foundational practice to help in the preparation for delivering complex sporting movements without resorting to technical thinking which can disrupt and inhibit the body. Advice will be given on how to build and develop the practice, and implement it during real-time competitive situations.

  • The Practice of High Performance

Developing a daily Performance Practice to unite mind and body, mental game and technical training. Preparing the inner conditions necessary to enter the flow-state or zone, bypassing psychological and mental game processes to develop inner quietude and a state of relaxed readiness, allowing the body to move in the most natural way. Available to audiences who have participated in Topics 1 or 2 above. Benefits and take-home value: Audience members will be secure in their ability to unite the mental and technical aspects of sport, stay in the moment, and perform under pressure.
